Kratie (Cambodia)

Hey guys!

There we are , finally reached our last destination in Cambodia!
It was a long trip till we got to Kratie. First we took a bus from Sihanouk Ville and then we had to change the bus in Phnom Penh , but apparently there was no bus waiting for us in the capital , so the company that we booked the tickets from, took us somewhere to another side of the city and then we realised that we will reach Kratie by mini van ! That's fine ...but after they told us that we have to sit 4 people in one row for another 5-6 hours! So thanks God we are not some big overweight persons ! :D
Anyway , the best part was when driver realised that he took one person to much, because mini van was completely full ! So guess what he did? He offered that men to share his driver seat with him! No problem! And here we are all friendly , sharing all the seats and listening Cambodian pop music, on the way to Kratie ! The funniest bit was when we stopped for a short break and all the people tried to get out of the van, it looked like that old cartoon , where small car comes and like 20 clowns get out from that car ! LOL ! So that was exactly the same. And all those horrible roads ! Crazy...For all this madness we paid $34 (£20) for both of us...

But most important thing is that we got there alive. When we arrived there was already dark evening, so we found our Silver Dolphin guesthouse, and went straight away to bed ...
Our guesthouse was about 10min away from bus station just on the main road by the river . Guesthouse was nice , staff really friendly and helpful, had a relaxing area on the top floor with the river view and the room was very big and spacious. The price was $10 (£6) per night .
 Kratie is a very small town. It became very popular for watching the unique dolphin in Mekong river and for the traditional Cambodian villages around.
We rented a motorbike and went to watch those weird dolphins without nose . Its a few kilometers outside Kratie and you have to pay entrance fee $18 (£10) for both of us, which includes motorbike parking and boat for 1 hour to watch the dolphins in the Mekong river. It was nothing special , but still interesting experience to see those wild unique dolphins. They were just swimming around ,didn't came near by the boat, but I manage to catch few photos from a distance. On the way back we stopped at local village and bought their traditional dessert made out of rice and beans stuffed in the bamboo tube. I also tried fresh mussels with local spices. Very interesting :)

In town center there are few cosy restaurants to have a nice dinner , but we were unlucky , because all the main restaurants street where occupied by big wedding with a loud music, so we didn't really enjoyed our meal, but at least we witness a proper, big Cambodian wedding. Also as usual we visited the market , where again you can buy everything from fruit and veg to jeans and watches . In general Kratie looks like nice warm town to stop just before going to Laos.

Right ! That's it for Crazy Cambodia ! That was a life time experience I will never forget ! :D Next stop 4000 islands in Laos.

Labas visiems skaitytojams,

Štai ir paskutinė mūsų apsistojimo vieta Kambodžijoje, miestelis Kratie. Čia nusprendėme apsistoti dėl keletos priežasčių. Pirmiausia, kad neprailgtų kelias iki Laoso ir antra, kad pamatytume retą ir jau nykstančią delfinų rūšį, kuriuos galima rasti tik Mekongo upėje.
Kelionė iki Kratie buvo pakankamai ilgoka palyginus kokiomis sąlygomis važiavome. Bilietus buvome nusipirkę iš anksto, bet kadangi iš Koh Rong salos grįžome tik 12val. tad reikėjo nuspręsti pernakvoti pajūrio miestelyje ar sostinėje, nes kelias iki Kratie ilgas ir jei nori pasiekti tą pačią dieną reikia išvykti labai anksti.
Nusprendėme pasilikti Sihanouk Ville tam pačiam @home viešbutyje vienai nakčiai ir anksti ryte išvykti. Geriau pasimėgauti pajūriu nei didmiesčio šurmuliu. Pavakarieniavome kavinėje kur pasimėgavome europietišku maistu maždaug už £9/40lt, o tai jau prabanga mums, nes dažniausiai valgom tik vietinį maistą. Bet kaip gera prisiminti namus, europietiškas savas maistas tirpsta burnoje...
Taigi pernakvoję viešbutyje, anksti ryte 7val. su autobusu išvažiavome į sostinę, kelionė truko apie 4.5val. tada reikėjo pasikeisti į kitą autobusą, o tada jau prasidėjo visi smagumai.
Kadangi sostinė nuvylė jau ir pirmą kartą, antrąkart savo reputacijos nepakėlė. Kaip pasirodė mūsų autobusas turėjo išvykti iš kitos stoties, tad kol išsiaiškinom praėjo šiek tiek laiko su visokiausiais nesklandumais. Kai mus nuvežė į vietą toliau tęsti mūsų kelionės, pamatėm, kad važiuosim ne autobusu, o mikroautobusu kur 14 vietų. Ne veltui pabrėžiau kiek vietų autobusiuke, nes kai susodino mus po keturis vienoj eilėj kur yra tik trys sėdynės jau norėjosi verkti. Negana to, vairuotojas dar valandą žaidė ir dėliojo puzlę bagažinėj, nes buvo per daug bagažo. Kai lauke daugiau nei 30 laipsnių, baisus užterštumas, o viduje dar baisiau ir labai nepatogu, o plius dar nevalgę daugiau nei 6val., jau ėmė pyktis. Tokiomis akimirkomis norisi viską mesti ir važiuoti namo.
Beje Kambodžijoje punktualumo net nesitikėkite, viskas vėluoja mažiausiai valandą. Kai jau pagaliau viskas buvo supakuota ir nusprendė pajudėti, tada pyktį pakeitė juokas. Vienas keleivis nebetilpo ir į taip jau perkrautą autobusiuką, tad vairuotojas jį pasisodino šalia savęs ir taip turėjo vairuoti daugiau nei 5val. Tokie vaizdai kėlė juoką visą kelią;D Tai dar kartą įrodo, kad Kambodžijoje kelių eismo taisyklių nėra: važiuoji kaip nori, kiek nori ir su kuo nori. Šita beprotiška kelionė mums kainavo netgi £20/80lt. abiems.
Išvažiavus ryte ir vakare pagaliau pasiekus miestelį Kratie, lengvai radome svečių namus Silver Dolphin, kur pasitiko labai malonūs ir svetingi savininkai. Naktis dviems žmonėms už dvivietį erdvų kambarį kainavo tik £6/24lt., smagi poilsio zona tik išėjus iš kambario su nuostabiu vaizdu į Mekongo upę.
Kadangi turėjome mažai laiko, išmiegoję, nuo pat ryto išsinuomojom motorolerį ir važiavom žiūrėti delfinų. Įėjimas kainavo £10/40lt abiems, įskaitant 1h ekskursiją su valtimi. Visada maniau, kad delfinai yra tik vienos rūšies su smailia nosimi, bet pasirodo yra ir kitokių. Šitie yra reti ir nykstantys, gyvenantys tik Mekongo upėje ir juos galima išvysti tik šitam miestelyje arba Laoso vienoje dalyje. Delfinų yra likę tik apie 80 visoje upėje. Mums pavyko išvysti juos iš pakankamai arti, gaila, kad jie tokie greiti ir sunku užfiksuoti nuotraukoje. Bet pasisekė pagauti bent vieną.
Kratie miestelis nedidelis, tad po trumpos ekskursijos po jį, kitą dieną jau judame toliau. Tai tik trumpa poilsio minutė prieš įžengiant į naują šalį.

Koh Rong (Cambodia)

Hello from Koh Rong my friends!

What a paradise we are in! I mean really! That is just what I wanted and dreamed about for so long. Wild island with just a few guesthouses , quiet and peaceful, soft white sand and blue clear water !
We got there by taking slow 3h ferry . There also is speed ferry , but our was cheaper just $30 (£18) including return ticket for both of us ! The ferry even stopped to another beautiful island near by for half an hour which was on the way, so we were really happy with slow ferry, because we enjoyed every bit of it ! Ahh what a beauty !

When we got there we didn't have anywhere to stay yet, so we just were going to every house and asking if they have any available rooms. After about 30min searching we found this local family guesthouse which offered us a room for $10 (£6) per night . The guesthouse was more like a woodshed with the big bed and net from mosquitoes , but I loved every bit of this experience. To stay in the locals house and watch there everyday life from so close . Just perfect! :) The family was very friendly and they looked after us very well. Loved that place :)
The island itself is quite big, so there is a lot to explore . There are no road even for bicycle so if you want to get somewhere the only option is to walk or use the boat. The best thing of this island is that there is not much people living there and island is still untouched and not occupied by tourism so much yet .I hope is going to stay that way. There is one diving school and just few restaurants and few resorts. Also there are probably healthiest meat in the world , because chickens running around free , even on the beach ! So I gave them the name Beach Special Free Range Chicken !  LOL !  By the way there is no electricity after 11pm in the island but still some of the resorts has there own electricity generators.

There was plenty of time for us to relax on the beautiful beach ,just lay down in the hammock , read a book, build a sand castle and have a fresh local fruits, basically it was one of those moments when you think that time just stopped and you are lost in the middle of nowhere and you just want to stay in that moment forever :)

One old hippie lady told us that there is a beach where in the middle of the night when electricity generators stops working you can see glowing plankton's, she described us the way how to get there and on the same day in the evening we were on the way to that beach! We tracked over the jungle about half an hour till we reach the place and when we got to the beach it was completely empty! You look one way - nothing  , then to another end , the same - empty ! It was just we and mother nature ! We laid down on the beach and waited for those plankton's . But unfortunately after 4 hours waiting we didn't see even one of them... So we just decided to go back home . Ahhh well maybe next time...:) Still I will never forget that evening , it was one of the most  beautiful and romantic evenings ever ! Just two of us laying on the beach, talking and watching this bright , clear sky full of stars...

The funniest part was getting back home in the middle of the dark night through the jungle when most of the forest wakes up at night ! :) On the way back we met some strange bugs , strange worms ,crabs , snails  and etc. not mentioning about strange noises all around ! :D But after a while we got back to our main beach safely :)

This was one of those experience I always wanted to do ! This was just like a dream come true ! If we would stay there a bit longer that would be perfect! But you know what they say, be happy with what you get , even too long in heaven may become boring.
The time was against us, so we had to move on and do our last short stop in small town called Kratie before we cross the Laos border !

Sveiki iš rojaus kampelio Koh Rong,

Tikrai neapsirikome savo sprendimu aplankyti šitą salą. Nusipirkę pigiausius bilietus su lėtuoju keltu abiems už £18/75lt. į abu galus, po 3val. atplaukėme į salą. Taip pat buvome trumpai sustoję kitoje saloje, tad galėjome apsižvalgyti ir pasivaikščioti. Toje saloje buvo dar mažiau viešbučių turistams, tik vietinių žmonių kaimelis, tai kiti keliautojai kas norėjo pasilikti tiesiog pasiprašė pas vietinių pernakvoti. Kadangi vietiniai labai paprasti, visada galima susitarti ir manau tai pigiausias būdas keliauti. Tik kadangi mes labai konservatyvūs ir nedrasūs kaip dauguma lietuvių, taip ir neišbandėme tokio būdo.
Kartais man atrodo, kad mums ant kaktos užrašyta, "šituos galima lengvai apgauti" ar mes šiaip tokie naivūs atrodom ir visais per daug pasitikim ;)) nes mes visad pakliūvame ant vienokio ar kitokio kabliuko. Dar prieš išplaukiant, mums valgant pusryčius atbėgo agentūros darbuotojas ir paprašė primokėti £6/25lt nes mat jis apsiriko ir bilietai kainuoja brangiau. Jis dirbantis kasdien tokį darbą nežino net kainų. Po ilgų aiškinimosi, kad čia ne mūsų kaltė visdėlto davėme pusę tos sumos tai ir nesupratę ar jis nuoširdžiai apsiriko ar tik šiaip užsimanė papildomai pasipelnyti. Negana to grįžtant užrašė blogą kelto išplaukimo laiką, tad pavėlavom, tai gavom plaukti su greituoju keltu primokant dar £6/25lt papildomai. Bent jau parlėkėm su vėjeliu per 40min, vietoj 3val.
Atplaukus į salą ir išlipus iš kelto abiem net žandikauliai atvipo. Toks neišpasakytas gamtos grožis. Baltutėlis ir minkštas kaip cukraus pudra smėlis, krystalo skaidrumo vanduo su gaivinančiom bangom, dar turistų neatrasta ir neperkrauta sala. Tiesiog pasaka!!!
Pagrindiniam miestelyje iš kurio išplaukėm turizmo agentūros siūlo tik brangesnius kambarius apsistoti, bet kadangi mūsų biudžetas paskaičiuotas mums buvo per brangu mokėti £13/55lt už naktį (Kambodžijos standartais tai labai daug), todėl kambario ieškojom tik atplaukę.
Pabėgioję po keletą namukų, atradome vietinių žmonių svečių namus, dvivietis kambarys, dviem žmonėms už naktį £6/25lt. Draugiška vietinių šeimyna buvo labai svetinga, galėjom pasimėgauti nemokama kava, arbata ir vandeniu. Kambarys tai...hm kaip čia apibūdinus..toks iš lentų sukaltas namukas, iš vidaus irgi jokios apdailos tiesiog lentos kaip "malkinė" ar garažas koks su lova ir mažu staliuku. Tik tiek....
Bet kadangi pati sala dar nėra okupuota turistų todel teko gyventi taip pat kaip ir gyvena patys vietiniai, todėl nieko stebėtino, kad gavome tokį kambarį. Visokia patirtis yra įdomi. Žinoma yra keletą netgi puikių namukų pastatytų specialiai turistams, bet kainos žinoma atitinkamos.
Sala pakankamai didelė ir tikrai galima sumąstyti ką nuveikti, bet labiausiai patiko, kad ten labai ramu, keliai neegzistuoja, mažai žmonių nors aplink salą yra apie 20 paplūdymių, gal tik keleta, kur jau gyvenama ir juos galima pasiekti tik su valtimi arba klaidžioti pesčiomis per džiungles su gidu. Taip pat yra keletą kavinukių kur pakankamai pigiai galima pavalgyti. Tikrai labai gera ir pigi vieta puikiam poilsiui, nors tikrai tikiu, kad po keletos metų salos grožis bus sugadintas bei perpildytas naujais viešbučiais. Džiaugiamės, kad atradome šią salą dar prieš tai.
Tai buvo mūsų poros dienų poilsis ir pasiruošimas tolimesnėms  kelionėms prieš sustojant į paskutinę stotelę Kambodžijoje ir po to kersime Laoso sieną.

Sihanouk Ville (Cambodia)

Hello from seaside!

First of all we supposed to do just two stops in Cambodia but after visiting Siem Reap and the capital we where a bit disappointed, so we decided to take our last shot in Cambodia and visit Sihanouk Ville.
Well straight away I can tell you that we didn't expect much from it, but believe me we are so happy now that we didn't miss this spot. :)
It took us just 3h to get here from the capital with express minibus and we paid for it $24 (£14.5) for both of us.

We stayed in guesthouse called @home just 5min for the sea side. First thing what shocked us was that we found a dog in our room when we arrived. Apparently it was one of the owners dog ! LOL. The owners was all day sitting at the bar drinking beer and didn't even could say hello , the rest of the staff was OK , looked like they live and work there , so bit of a mess and on the top of that our room was full of ants , but that's normal I guess when you by the seaside, but yeah...I didn't felt like @home at all...and we paid for it $15 (£9) per night , which I think was bit too much. But anyway, forget the guesthouse, its all about the sea!:)

Its just amazing what kind of seaside and islands Cambodia has, that I never ever heard anywhere or from anyone about them !
The beach in Sihanouk Ville is beautiful , but unfortunately there was litters all over, like in the rest of Cambodia and the worst part is that Cambodians don't care about it , they just drop there rubbish on the floor or throw it out from the car or boat. I think  they really should take care more of their beautiful land .
On the beach there are plenty cheap restaurants offering fresh seafood with very comfortable free sofa chairs and tables just by the beach creating this magical relaxing atmosphere, so you can really stay there for hours...if not all those old ladies walking around and offering you manicure , pedicure, massage and etc. Or plenty homeless people walking around and begging for money , you can give the money to one but there is going to be another one and another one, sad but at the end we cant give money to all of them and it looked like they some how was working together , like this one old grandmother with huge sunglasses and the stick walking around and begging for money and then after few hours in the evening the same old lady was walking around again, but this time without sunglasses and stick selling fireworks with the big smile on her face! LOL ! By talking to every single person on the beach that tries to sell you something we even made some friends , little kids who making bracelets , sometimes they can be really cheeky and annoying if you don't buy anything from them, like for example sitting down near by and watching you while you having your lunch , since most of the time we where spending on the beach we met them few times a day. So we decided to make them a little busy! We ask them to make a wrist band for each of us with Lithuanian flag colours which is yellow , green and red! But they didn't have those colours so we told them , if they want to get money from us they have to find the colours and make it, then we will definitely buy it from them. And guess what? The youngest boy about 6 years old found the colours and made them just in front of us. We were really impressed and I have to say its the best souvenir I got form Cambodia for sure! Also we where teaching them to speak in Lithuanian! Believe me we had so much fun while we where in the beach.

There are a lot of one day trips available around islands. So we decided to go for a cheapest one,  3 island tour which includes food, drinks tour around 3 islands and snorkeling. It cost us just $ 30 (£18) for both of us ! I think it was a really great deal , because I had one of the best snorkeling experience ever in the clear crystal water , watching those exotic fishes and riffs, just amazing .We where having fresh local BBQ Barracuda on one of the islands and relaxing on the clean and quiet white sand beach and swimming in the clear blue water :)

This place changed our opinion about Cambodia a lot and we decided to extend our stay in just for a bit longer by going to Koh Rong island ! I hope its going to be even better then Sihanouk Ville , because travellers say it will be new Phi Phi island ! Can't wait to see it my self !

Laba diena iš saulėtosios Kambodžijos,

Po beprotiškos sostinės šurmulio, štai mes jau ir pajūryje. O taip pasiilgau jūros, atgaiva sielai ir kūnui.
Pagal mūsų planą Kambožijoje turėjom aplankyti tik dvi vietas tai sostinę ir Siem Reap, kuriuose jau buvom, bet kažkaip netikėtai sugalvojome, kad norime prie jūros. Neapsirikome, nes tai geriausia vieta visoje šalyje. Net nesitikėjau, kad gali būti taip gražu.
Iš sostinės iki pajūrio miestelio Sihanouk Ville tik 3 val. kelio su mikroautobusu. Kadangi prieš tai kelionė į sostinę gavosi mažas nesusipratimas su autobusais, tad šį kartą tikrai išklausinėjau ar tai bus vip ar paprastas vietinis, nes nenorėjom, kad būtų moki už vieną gauni kitą. Vip mikroautobusas mums kainavo £14.5/60lt. abiems. Nors autobusas ir geras, bet Kambodžijos keliai tikrai ne.
Negana to, kad keliai blogi, kelių eismo taisyklės negalioja, tai vairuotojas vairavo taip, kad nesuprasi veža žmones ar bulvių maišus.
Pajūris kaip ir visur dažniausiai būna brangesnėmis kainomis, tad ne išimtis ir čia. Apsistojome svečių namuose @home, kurie kainavo mums £9/36lt. už naktį abiems. Didžiausias pliusas, kad iki jūros buvo ne daugiau 100 metrų, bet šie svečių namai labiau man pasirodė kaip koks viešnamis, nes buvo pilna pagyvenusių vyrų su jaunom kambodietėm. Jei Tailande mergaites nakčiai pasiima slaptai ir nesidemonstruodami per daug, tai čia Kambodžijoje labai atvirai seni diedai vaikšto su jaunom panelėm po kavines ar po miestą.
Paplūdymys padarė įspūdį iškart pamačius ir iš geros ir iš blogos pusės vienu metu. Kambodžija turi nuostabius paplūdymius su baltu smėliu ir skaidriu šiltu vandeniu, bet yra nusėtas pilnas šiukšlių, kurių niekas net nemąsto surinkti, nes jiems tai normalu ir taip įpratę.
Šiukšlina jie visur: prie jūros, mieste, pakelėse ir netgi savo kieme bei namuose. Tokia graži šalis ir tuo pačiu tokia netvarkinga, nes jie nemato nieko blogo išmesti šiukšlę per langą ar šiaip į gatvę nors šalia stovi šiukšlinė.
Kas labiausiai patiko pajūryje, nes ten pilna jaukių kavinių tiesiog palūdymy, šalia vandens su minkštais krėslais-foteliais į kuriuos įkritęs gali gulėt visą dieną. Tik liūdna tai, kad ten pilna benamių ir jie priėję prašo išmaldos, vienas po kito...tai be rankos, tai be kojų, ar moteris su mažu kūdikiu ir t.t. Turi būti bejausmis, kad neatkreiptum dėmesio, bet tuo pačiu negali duoti visiems ypač kai tas kartojasi kasdien. Svarbiausia, kad net nesuprasi kam iš tikrųjų sunku, o kas tik šiaip užsidirbinėja. Kad ir viena močiutė su lazdele ir saulės akiniais priėjus maldauja centų, o po valandikės jau žiurim be akinių ir lazdos su šypsena eina ir pardavinėja fejerverkus ;D
Buvo ir smagių vaikų grupelė, kurie pina apyrankes ir jas pardavinėja, tai sėdėdami kasdien pajūry ir draugų susiradom. Netgi nupynė mums apyrankes su mūsų šalies vėliavos spalvomis.
Kad neatsibostų visiškai nieko neveikti, nutarėme pasiimti ekskursiją į tris salas, kurios kainavo £9/36lt vienam žmogui, įskaitant pusryčius, pietus, akvalangas pasigėrėt plaukiojančiom žuvytėm ir turas po salas. Galima sakyti kad tai buvo mūsų viena pigiausių ekskursijų, nes dažniausiai tiek mes vien maistui sumokam, todėl skaitosi, kad ekskursija gavosi kaip ir nemokamai;) buvo tikrai smagiai praleista diena, salos dar neatrastos turistų, negyvenamos, tai tiesiog ramus pasimėgavimas saule ir jūra.
Pasižiūrinėję ką dar siūlo pamatyti esant tame mieste atradome visai netikėtą salą Koh Rong, kurioje galima net apsistoti, tad kadangi kelionės nebuvome suplanavę į priekį galėjome elgtis spontaniškai ir plaukti ten. Pažiūrėsim ar buvo verta. Iki pasimatymo Koh Rong saloje.

Phnom Penh (Cambodia)

Great news! We survived 7h journey from Siem Reap to the capital Phnom Penh! :D
First of all, roads are horrible in Cambodia ! Second their driving style is horrifying , there is no rules on the road what so ever , at least not the ones we use to in Europe and finally the bus was horrible. Bus tickets for this all day attraction cost us $24 (£14).
We arrived to Phnom Penh and all we wanted to do is to have a shower , eat and go to sleep .

We stayed in Homeland guest house just in the middle of all the main attractions , walking distance from Olympic village , Genocide museum and Russian market. Also not very far from central market, riverfront walk and Royal palace. We paid for this guesthouse just $10 (£6) per night for a very nice room with all the stuff that you need. I think its very good price for capital of Cambodia.
In Phnom Penh there is no city transport , there is actually no even a bus station , so everybody use Tuk Tuk or motorbike .
For us it looked like a big chaos on the streets, everybody driving how they want , but it looks like they all know what they are doing.
The main reason we stopped in Phnom Penh is to get a visa to Laos. When we went to the Laos embassy it was empty, so we filled up all the papers and gave to the guy and he told us to come back in 2 days ! I asked him kindly can you do it now? He looked like he was upset and he told us OK , wait here! It was empty and all of the officers looked very bored , but anyway to print a sticker and stick it in the passport was a very long , professional skills requiring and probably very hard procedure . After almost 2h we finally got our visas , from the slowest office ever ! LOL! And it cost us $40 (£24 ) each.
Then when we finished with visas we were looking somewhere to have lunch and just outside the Laos embassy there was this Japanese buffet called Hanami for $9 (£5) eat and drink as much as you want, even alcohol! No time limit ! You could sit there all day if you want to!There was not just Japanese food, but also Italian, American , Chinese and some others.  We were so hungry , all day with empty stomachs , without any breakfast , so we quickly made a decision to have lunch there. OMG...that was a good idea ! :D When we came in the restaurant  , all the staff gave us a very warm welcome. We sat down and started our feast !  We tried everything bit by bit like we were in someones wedding ! LOL ! All was so delicious and very high standard. Very nice place to eat. Especially because you can get unlimited Western food ! :)

Next day we went to Toul Sleng S21 Genocide museum which was just near by our guest house. Really sad place ...There used to be high school, but Khmer Rouge regime which won a civil war made a prison out of it and used to torture and kill political prisoners and other intelligent Cambodians. Apparently there is plenty massive killing fields  around Cambodia. All this was happening not so long ago , between 1975-1979 and in this period 20 000 innocent people were executed in S21 prison and 2 millions all around Cambodia. Sad...

We also visited Russian market where we had this very tasty homemade waffles and then we went for a walk by the riverfront where are all the main bars and restaurants and actually the only nice, clean place in whole Phnom Penh. By finishing the day we took a Tuk Tuk to see the night lights of Phnom Penh.

Generally it was the worst capital city so far , even Bangkok looks good after Phnom Penh ! :D Its hot, smelly and dusty and not much to see.
Our next stop is the most famous seaside holiday destination in Cambodia - Sihanoukville ! Everybody talks its very good. Can't wait to see it !

Labas ir vėl,

Įdomu kaip sekasi toliau? Ogi nuotykiai tęsiasi. Iš Siem Reap važiavome į sostinę Phnom Penh. Kaip paaiškėjo vėliau nuvažiavus į stotį, kad ir vėl gavosi nesusišnekėjimas. Keletą kartų turizmo agentūroj prieš perkant bilietus paklausiau ar tai VIP autobusas ir sakė taip, bet stotyje parodė mums, kad reikia lipti į reguliarų sugriuvusį miesto autobsą. Įsivaizduojat su tokiu autobusu 7val. važiuoti per karštį ir tragiškus kelius, o jų vairavimo stilius dar baugesnis, nes kaip minėjau ten važiuoja kaip nori ir kaip moka, nesvarbu ar veža žmones ar bulvių maišus ;). Tai ar aš jo nesupratau ar jis manęs, ko aš noriu, bet gavosi kaip gavosi. Mūsų linksma kelionė kainavo £6/24lt., žmogui.
Pakeliui iš vienos vietos į kitą visada įdomu stebėti kražtovaizdį, žmones ar tiesiog mąstyti. Liūdna buvo matyti kaip žmonės varganai gyvena. Pakelėse pastatytos paprastos pašiūrės kur atrodo tokioj tikrai niekas negalėtų gyventi, bet, deja, gyvena. Taip pat jie yra labai netvarkingi lyginant su kitomis šalimis. Pakelės nusėtos šiukšlėmis, kiemuose taip pat, kartais net keista kaip žmogus gali taip netvarkingai gyventi.
Nuvažiavus į sostinę vaizdas taip pat nenudžiugino. Labai jau vargana sostinė, nes tik pačiam centre pora dangoraižių stovi, keletą gerų pastatų, o visur kitur aplink tai mediniai namukai, lūšnelės ir varganai gyvenantys žmonės. Miestas didžiulis, užteršta, mašinų ir motorolerių pilna ir eismas toks didžiulis, kad neįmanoma net gatvės pereiti. Šviesaforų daug nepastebėjom, o prie perėjos galima laukti, kad ir visą dieną vistiek nei vienas nesustos, nes ten eismo taisyklių kaip ir nėra. Viešasis transportas taip pat neegzistuoja, todėl visi naudoja motorolerius ir tuk tuk (tai kaip taxi, motoroleris su prikabinta priekaba ir įrengtomis sėdynėmis).
Apsistojome Homeland svečių namuose ir mokėjom už dvivietį kambarį tik £6/24lt. už naktį. Galiu pasakyti viena pigiausių sostinių, nes kambarys tikrai geras, tvarkingas ir darbuotojai draugiški su gera anglų kalba.
Tai ne pats centras, bet labai gera vieta, nes visos atrakcijos buvo pakankamai arti, buvo galima pėsčiomis nueiti. Apsilankėme rusų turguje (Russian market), kur maniau bus kažkas įdomaus ar kitokios prekės, bet pasirodo tai tik pavadinimas...bent jau atradau naują skanų desertą, kurį išbandėme nors buvo parduodamas gatvėj. Šiaip iš gatvės maisto stengiamės nepirkti, nes jau turėjom sveikatos problemų, bet šitie vafliai taip skaniai pakvipo, kad neatsispyriau. Rekomenduoju išbandyt jei būsit Kambodžijoje, užuosti galima iš tolo (tokie suvynioti vafliukai su baltu saldžiu pertepimu ir šiek tiek kokoso) ;D
Pora minučių nuo mūsų svečių namų buvo Toul Sleng S21Genocido muziejus, todėl nusprendėm apsilankyti ir jame, sužinoti daugiau apie Kambodžijos praeitį. Nesu didžiausia istorijos mėgėja, bet šis muziejus buvo tikrai įdomus. Senas pastatas su dar išlikusiais įkalčiais kaip buvo kankinami ir žudomi žmonės. Šis pastatas kažkada buvusi aukštoji mokykla, buvo okupuotas Khemer Rouge partijos, laimėjus civilinį karą. Pastatas buvo paverstas į kalėjimą ir uždaryti visi išsilavinę kambodžijos žmonės kurie priešinosi naujai valdžiai. Kmer Rouge režimas šitam kalėjime buvo baisus, be gailesčio kankinami ir žudomi žmonės. Man tai priminė šiek tiek Lietuvos istoriją kai lietuviai inteligentai buvo ištremiami į Sibirą, o čia viskas vyko toj pačioj šaly, slaptai niekam nežinant. Liūdna istorija, kuri dar vyko taip neseniai 1975-1979 m.
Vienintelė gražiai sutvarkyta vieta visoje sostinėje tai takas pagal upę, kur vakarais susirenka dauguma žmonių smagiai praleisti laiką, pažaisti kamuoliu, pasportuoti ar šiaip pasivaikščioti. Čia yra visa gatvė pilna įvairiausių barų ir kavinių, kur galima palydėti saulėlydį ar kažko užkąsti.
Atradome super kavinukę Hanami prie Laos ambasados, šiaip skaitosi kaip ir japoniškas restoranas, bet galima gauti ir kitokio maisto: kiniečių, italų, amerikiečių ir žinoma japonų. Kas geriausia, kad sumokėjus apie £6/25lt žmogui, galima valgyti viską ko tik širdelė geidžia. Alkoholiniai ir gaivieji gerimai, kava, kepsniai, picos, sushi, desertai ir kitokie skanumynai net akys raibo. Pagrindinė taisyklė ką įsidedi į lėkštę tą turi suvalgyti, jei paliksi bent kažkiek, pvz nepatiko, tada prie saskaitos prideda dar 50%, todėl reikėjo rinktis labai atidžiai. Maistas labai aukštos kokybės, skaniai pagamintas, norėjosi paragauti visko kuo daugiau, todėl kaip jau nekeista persivalgymas buvo garantuotas. Lietuvoje atidarius tokią kavinę, manau, bankrotas garantuotas, nes lietuviai mėgsta pavalgyti ;D Tikrai verta apsilankyti tokioje vietoje kai atvažiuoji į Phnom Penh.
Atvirai pasakius ši sostinė tai tokia vieta į kurią daugiau nebegrįščiau, nes man čia buvo kaip koks beprotnamis vidury miesto: per daug eismo, žmonių, šiukšlių ir kt. Bet labai tikiuosi, kad kitoje stotelėje bus įdomiau, nes mes važiuojame į pajūrį ;)
